What comes to mind when you hear the words family, home, and memory? What special memories live in your family home? How does your childhood home live in your memory? Where are family memories kept when the family home is no longer there?

Artist Erica L. Jones noted sources of family strength and inspiration in this drawing of her grandmother, her grandfather's plow, and her grandparent's home.

Community participants were invited to explore the idea of the home as the keeper of family memory with Keisha Roberts, a featured artist of the Fifth Annual African American Cultural Celebration at the North Carolina Museum of History. The quilt will become a part of the Museum's education collection and will be on display in the education wing.
