Visual Voice: Transforming Silence Through Contemporary Quilted Art

Thursday, August 10-Saturday, August 12, 2006

Quilts for Change
Cintas Center, Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH
Curated by Keisha Roberts

Visual Voice: Transforming Silence Through Contemporary Quilted Art is an exhibition of quilts that assign color, tone, and form to silence. Exhibition artists interrogate silence as it informs personal, cultural, and national experience and identity. The artists use quilts to transform silence into language, power, action, healing, and peace. These quilts transform powerlessness into power and answer the question: What does silence become?
